Important BSUR Announcements

14th Sep 2020

Dear BSUR Member,

We hope you are keeping well at the current time and thank you for your continued support to the
society.

Annual Scientific Meeting:
We are very disappointed that we have had to cancel the Cambridge Meeting and related workshops
this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These had taken many months of planning and we remain
committed to run these in 2021. We had a substantial number of registered delegates and a record
number of abstract submissions. The advanced prostate and gynaecology imaging workshops in
particular were fully subscribed.

The Cambridge ASM will now take place on 19-20th May 2021, of course dependent on the growing
uncertainty regarding COVID-19. We may be required to run the meeting virtually if there are ongoing
restrictions. The prostate and gynaecology MRI workshops will take place on 17-18th May.

The 2022 meeting is currently planned to take place in Edinburgh and will be organised by Dr Julian
Keanie.

Changes to BSUR committee:
Jane Belfield has come to the end of her tenure as Chair and we would like to sincerely thank her for
the excellent work in organising the successful Liverpool ASM, our first joint meeting with BSGAR and
her ongoing work with the RCR.

Following the changes to the BSUR constitution earlier this year, the committee had nominated Dr
Amit Patel as Vice-chair, who has served on the committee since 2013 and has worked collaboratively
with UKIO, RCR and other organisations to expand the profile of BSUR. He has now succeeded as Chair
for a 2 year term.

Two committee members have expressed an interest for the vacant vice-chair position and the
committee is currently undertaking a vote, the result of which will be announced on 19th September.

Several committee positions are now available, all with a 2 year term:
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Education Officer
- Research and Guidelines Officer
- BAUS Representative
- Website Officer (transition with Dr Kiran Randhawa until May 2021)

We would be delighted to hear from members who wish to be more actively involved with the society
and expressions of interest for these positions will be very welcomed.

Please kindly submit your interest via the ‘contact us’ page on the BSUR website by Wednesday 30th
September. Please include a supporting statement of up to 250 words.

Further specific details about individual roles and responsibilities will shortly feature on the website,
however we welcome any informal discussions with those who would like to gather more information
(again please submit your telephone number via the contact page and we will endeavour to respond
promptly).

Virtual AGM:
This will be held on Thursday 1st October at 7pm. The agenda and log-in instructions will be circulated
closer to the time. We would be very grateful if you can attend.

We hope that you all remain well and look forward to continuing the work of the society with your
help and support.

Your sincerely,

Dr Amit Patel (Chair) and Dr Jane Belfield (Past Chair)

On behalf of the BSUR Committee
